Senate Support for Home Health Bill Continues to Grow
Thanks to the advocacy efforts of AANP members and coalition partners, more Senators are now supportive of the Home Health Planning and Improvement Act (S. 578/H.R. 1342) than ever before. With more than a quarter of the Senate in favor of authorizing nurse practitioners to certify patient eligibility for Medicare home health services, it is imperative that we maintain communication with our elected officials to continue this growth and support.

Like their colleagues in the Senate, a quarter of the members of the U.S. House of Representatives are supporters of the Home Health bill. It is important to continue our efforts to seek additional co-sponsors. We believe this strong support will advance us to our goal of passage of this legislation. Once passed, this legislation will reduce Medicare spending by eliminating duplicative services while also improving the quality and timeliness of care for the beneficiaries who require home health services.

Ask your Members of Congress to support the Home Health Planning and Improvement Act (S. 578/H.R. 1342), which would allow NPs to certify their patients' eligibility for home health care services.
